Posted by Teruin laurent sur septembre 4, 2015

Bonjour

A lire donc !

Issue Description

Hi today I cope with an issue of Lync 2013 Mobile Instability connection. The IPad and Samsung Mobile client can connect but each 2/ 3 Seconds the user is warned that there is a connection issue. See picture: Sorry we can connect to the server

Figure 1 : Samsung Galaxy Note Lync 2013 Mobile

Figure 2 : IPad Lync 2013 Mobile additionnal error

We have the same issue with an IPad device. We have tested on different 3G and external Wi-Fi network. Same behavior.

In the log: I’ve found that

HttpConnectionNativeCallback: exception none statusCode 204

ERROR TRANSPORT .\transportutilityfunctions.cpp/1770:Accept-types (application/vnd.microsoft.com.ucwa+xml) not found in Content-Type response from server (text/plain). Not decoding.

Lync 2010 Mobile on Deny All : This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested

Posted by Teruin laurent sur octobre 20, 2014

Today i try to enable Lync 2010 mobile client. The Lync Connectivity analyzer is successfull but not the real Lync 2010 client. Our configuration is working with DENYALL reverse proxy.

After a deny All inspection we saw that the Deny all refuse this post: post/mcxmcxservice.svc/webticket_Bearer… We have removed this exception and the the Lync 2010 Mobile client can connect successfully

Lync 2010/2013 Set-cswebserver don’t works on Lync 2010 with Lync 2013 cohabitation

Posted by Teruin laurent sur octobre 20, 2014

Issue Description

Hi today I cope with an issue of Lync Mobile cohabitation. The goal is to enable Lync 2010 Mobile communication (Mcx) with Lync 2013 Mobile cohabitation Web API (UCWA). Contrary to migration cases, my customer this time wants to keep some users on Lync 2010 pool and some users on Lync 2013 pool. Thus, some users will have to use Lync 2010 Mobile App and other Lync 2013 Mobile App.

The original Lync 2010 pool is not set originally with Lync Mobile Application (Mcx) and when we tried to set the Mobility service by following the technet and other articles we encountered an error message.

http://blog.schertz.name/2011/12/deploying-the-lync-2010-mobility-service/

I search some information about more a cohabitation path than a migration path for mobility service but without any success for the moment;

When we try to set the mcx port on the Lync 2010 pool we encountered this error

Set-cswebserver –identity –McxSipPrimaryListeningPort 5086 –McxSipExternalListeningPort 5087

The goal is also to know how it works actually with a Lync 2013 front end pool in the middle. In my view,

  1. The Lync discover A record point to a reverse proxy who send the url request mobile client on port 4443 to the Lync 2013 Webservices load Balanced Vip.
  2. The Load Balanced send the request to one of the Frontend pool

When we set that, the Lync 2013 Mobile application can log on successfully rom External. But Lync 2010 can’t. We verify 3 times all the certificate the root ant the intermediate certificate all is ok from this side.

In my perspective ; but I’m not sure, the Lync 2013 should send to the Lync 2010 External web services to the Lync 2010 Mobile client, and in this case the Lync 2010 client should be able to directly access to the Mcx virtual directory. But in our case we are not able to set it on Lync 2010. See the error message above. Our Lync 2010 webservices works well and are correctly published externally. Because our team also manage the Denyall reverse proxies infrastructure we are capable of viewing the incoming requests from outside.

Resolution Acceptance condition

The case will be considered by our team as resolved when Lync 2010 Mobility service run correctly on Lync 2010 Frontend

Technical articles

http://blogs.technet.com/b/lync/archive/2013/03/12/why-is-lync-2013-mobile-asking-me-to-use-lync-2010.aspx

Lync 2013 Mobile relies on Unified Communication Web API (UCWA) that comes with February 2013 Cumulative Update for Lync Server 2013 or later, which Lync Server 2010 does not provide. If you are connecting to a Lync 2010 or Lync 2013 RTM Server you will see the message « You can’t sign in with this version of Lync. Please install Lync 2010 ». On the other side, Lync 2010 Mobile relies on Lync Mobility Service (MCX) which is included on Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 Servers. This allows Lync 2010 Mobile users to sign into either version of Lync Server

http://blogs.technet.com/b/nexthop/archive/2012/04/25/lync-server-2010-mobility-deep-dive-autodiscover-service.aspx

Actions

On a test environnement i try to remove on one 2010 frontend server all cu and tried to install the CU4. The uninstall operation works fine but when i tried to apply the CU4 i encountered the same issue.

On the same environnement with a Lync 2010 Server with the most recent CU i have tried to perform the following command :

Set-cswebserver –identity –McxSipPrimaryListeningPort 5086 –McxSipExternalListeningPort 5087 and same issue as encountered in the production environnement

LYNC 2013 – Le Cumulative Update 6 (Septembre) est disponible !

Posted by David ANDRE sur septembre 24, 2014

Bonjour,

Have Fun !

Lync 2013 Edge : The Buffer supplied to a function was too small [solved]

Posted by Teruin laurent sur septembre 4, 2014

HI all

Today i cope with a strange behavior on edge server by assigning a public certificat from comodo

By inspecting the log a found this

The cetificat is well imported in the computer certificat container have a private key and the certification path is correct.

By using the following Certutil.exe command i v got this result

C:\Users\Adm-teruin>Certutil.exe -v -store my « 4bf5f126f5011c9dad6b737439f4e0b4 »

To solve this issue

  1. Export the certificate with PFX format from the Edge server
  2. import it on Firefox (my machine was Windows 8.1)
  3. export it from Firefox with the format P12
  4. Remove on the edge the assignement on the concerned certificat
  5. Remove the certificat on the edge server from the certificat store
  6. import the new formated certificat with the P12 format.
  7. Assign it to the edge

Lync 2013 Citrix VDI HDX Engine crash after May 2014 Lync Update

Posted by Teruin laurent sur septembre 1, 2014

HI all for your information this post describe a update of our attempt to delivered a stable Lync 2013 Citrix Vdi environment to our users on Xendesktop 7.5

A complete history could be found here: https://unifiedit.wordpress.com/category/2-lync-2013/lync-2013-vdi/

Since a while, we try to stabilize the Citrix VDI environment with Lync 2013 on Xendesktop 7.5. The last issue before delivering this solution to our User pilot was to fix the Ctrl Alt Tab issue (for more information see this article). https://unifiedit.wordpress.com/2014/03/07/lync-2013-vdi-citrix-alt-tab-issue-is-back/. For this a Microsoft Case has been opened and the last action was to update the Lync 2013 client with a May 2014 patch (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2880980). As the following picture display

Figure 1 : Component on the Physical Box

After applying the update we can observe that the Ctrl Tab Issue is no more present
but when the user close the session the Ucvdi.dll of HDx Engine crash.

Figure 2 : Hdx crash when user exit from the session

Regards

Laurent Teruin

LYNC 2013 – Failed to start RTCATS Service – The Application Host could not start the application urn:application:testbot.

Posted by David ANDRE sur juin 18, 2014

Bonjour,

Un petit retour sur le blog après une grosse charge de travail (Rendez-vous le 9 Juillet chez vos libraires :] ). Je vous partage aujourd’hui un peu de troubleshooting Lync Server 2013.

Contexte :

  • Lync Server 2013 Enterprise Edition (dernier CU Janvier)
  • Hardware Load Balancing F5
  • Back-end SQL Mirror + Witness

Have Fun J

David ANDRE
